Danita (The Daughter)
I grew up in a home where there was always a room dedicated to creative endeavors such as sewing. But as a thoroughly modern gal living in the age of convenience, I've always preferred a good quick project.
Spending a year in France, as an exchange student, had a huge impact on my sense of style and design, which I was later able to incorporate in my job as a manger of a local floral shop, where I dabbled in creativity on a daily basis. During that time, I also operated my own little coffee shop and taught paper crafting classes. And that's where I discovered my true passion...teaching people new skills that will expand their imagination and open up a world of endless creative options!
I want others to enjoy the satisfaction of crafting their own masterpieces as much as I do. Using my love of color, along with my background in design, my goal is to provide Ooh-La-La customers with fun, fresh, fast projects that can be completed in no time, without sacrificing quality and style.
Carolyn (The Mom)
My exposure to the creative world of crafting came early in life. Confined to a hospital for severe burns at the age of six, I learned a variety of crafts as therapy in regaining the use of my right arm. I loved being able to give those completed projects to my family as gifts! Throughout childhood, asI "borrowed" my dad's tools to construct craft items and frequently perused Grandma Wini's fabric stash for scraps with which to fashion quilts...but little did I know that those experiences would develop into a lifelong passion for quilting and crafting!
Today, I love all quilting and crafting styles and often have multiple projects in process, from folk art to more contemporary trends, as well as creative elements such as color selection and design. Whether I'm crafting a mug rug, table topper, or a bed quilt, I'm always on the lookout for more new projects, techniques and clever tips to try out. The more I learn, the more I want to share that knowledge with others, offering encouragement and inspiration as they discover their own creative journey!
